HOST : Nagano Unicycle Association & Japan Unicycle Marathon Association
RACES: 42.195km, 20km Unicycle Marathon
This is the first, full marathon (42.195km) for unicycles in the world.
In the first meet, without knowing how many riders could ride the whole distance,
planners were happy that everyone was able to complete the course.Since then,
aged from 1986 years old have ridden the whole distance.
As the crank length is unregulated, records are quickly broken. Though you may
ride faster than the previous winner's time, it may be difficult to finish in a
higher position. The winning time of the 10th meet was less than 2 hours, everyone
was out to break 2 hour mark. The winning time of the 10th meet was actually 1:58.42,
of the 11th meet was 1:50:31 and of the 12th meet was 1:46:53,the 16th meet was
1:43:17.the 18th meet was 1:40:52,the 20th meet was 1:38:23,the 22nd meet was 1:32:47
Adding powerful rookies this year, we are looking forward to breaking the records.
The 10km cycling road along Chikuma River is used as the course. Riders make 2 round
trips between the south, Taishou Bridge at Togura Town, and the north, Shinonoi-Shiozaki
in Nagano City. Two classes will ride simultaneusly : regular (20" and 24")
and towering (32", 36" & 42"). In good sportsmanship, we find riders
cheering each other on when they pass each other after making turns.
Several riders have grown up in these meets, and play an important role in facilitating
the events. They announce to the world The 22th All Japan Unicycle Marathon from Nagano,
the cradle of Unicycle Marathon.
